The Canticle of the Creatures Through Art

An Art Therapy Retreat to Celebrate the 800th Anniversary of St. Francis

The seminar is led by Marzia Maier, an artherapist.

Language Italian

“Praised be You, my Lord, through our Sister Mother Earth…”

To celebrate the 800th anniversary of St. Francis, we are invited to pause, pay attention, and listen.

This workshop is designed as a space for silence, creativity, and inner listening, where we can encounter the words of St. Francis through the experience of art.

No prior experience in drawing, painting, or any specific artistic skills is required. Through colors, images, shapes, materials, and words, each participant will be guided to express their own experience and allow themselves to be surprised by what emerges.

A Journey Through Creation

Following the rhythm of the Song of Creation, we will connect with some of its elements: the sky, the sun, the moon, water, fire, the earth, and all of creation.

Each element will provide an opportunity for reflection and a creative experience.

The program will alternate between moments of listening, silence, experiencing nature, sharing, and artistic activities, in a welcoming atmosphere that respects each person’s pace.

Optional morning yoga and Yoga Nidra in the afternoon

For those who wish, the days will begin with an optional gentle yoga practice, designed to awaken the body and prepare it for listening.

Through simple movements, breath, and mindfulness, yoga will become a way to:

  • gently connect with your body;
  • foster presence and centering;
  • open yourself with greater openness to the day’s experiences.

In the afternoon, there will be a Yoga Nidra session—“the yoga of conscious sleep”—a practice of deep relaxation that helps release physical and mental tension, fostering calm, balance, and inner well-being.

Participation is free and requires no prior experience

A Time to Return to the Essentials

This retreat is an invitation to slow down.

To set aside the noise and daily worries for a few hours.

To recognize that creativity is not merely the ability to produce something beautiful, but can become a way to listen to what dwells within us and encounter the world with fresh eyes.

Who It’s For

The retreat is open to anyone who wishes to experience listening and creativity, even without prior artistic experience.
